Hopscotching across the Greek Islands, riding horseback through volcano fields in Iceland, and gathering oysters from the North Sea are just a few of the adventures Peggy reports on.

Peggy Sijswerda was born in Norfolk and has lived in Virginia Beach most of her life. She has a B.S. in English from Radford University, an M.A. in English and an M.F.A. in creative writing from Old Dominion University. Peggy and her husband, Peter, have been publishing magazines in the region since 1990. Currently they publish Tidewater Family Plus, a monthly magazine for area parents.

In 2010 Peggy’s memoir was published to local acclaim. Still Life with Sierra tells the story of her family’s journey back to happiness after Peggy’s two-year-old daughter died in an accident in 1990.

Peggy has a passion for writing, travel, cooking, nature, yoga, friends, and family. She lives with her husband and youngest son in Virginia Beach. Her oldest son, Scott, is a Senior Airman in the U.S. Air Force, currently stationed in Germany, and her middle son, Jasper, lives in Amsterdam. Peggy is past-president of the local chapter of the National Association for Women Business Owners. She received the Women of Courage, Confidence, and Character award from the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast in 2011. She believes in the power of education and encourages girls and women everywhere to dream big and create the life they deserve.
