Busch Gardens: Thrills for Kids

Just an hour away six European countries await, and there’s no passport needed. Busch Gardens® Williamsburg is an action-packed adventure park with 17th-century charm and 21st-century technology, featuring 100+ acres of fun-filled world exploration.

Besides its thrill rides, this theme park is drop-dead gorgeous. In fact, for the 27th year in a row Busch Gardens Williamsburg has been named the world’s “Most Beautiful Park” by the National Amusement Park Historical Association (NAPHA). The lush terrain of Virginia’s native countryside provides the backdrop, and the park’s dedicated landscapers and grounds crew create and maintain the park’s gardens, walkways, and flowerbeds. More than 30,000 plants and flowers are grown in “behind-the-scenes” greenhouses.

In addition, Busch Gardens is committed to environmental preservation. The park’s greenhouse staff releases tens of thousands of beneficial bugs into the park each year as a natural form of pest management, while ground crews pull thousands of weeds by hand each season. In fact, landscape artists spend nearly six hours each day pruning, planting, and weeding the adventure park.

FUN FOR KIDS

Besides the beautiful setting, Busch Gardens is packed with fun activities, perfect for kids. There are over 40 KIDsiderate ® (kid-friendly) attractions and rides at Busch Gardens. Sesame Street ® Forest of Fun ™ and Land of the Dragons® offer plenty of places for kids to explore. Where else can kids sing with Elmo, feed a lorikeet, and ride between Mom and Dad on their first roller coaster?

Speaking of which, this year marks the opening of the park’s first family wooden coaster InvadR™. Vikings are taking over the village and invite guests to unleash their battle cry as they fly over InvadR’s nine air-time hills and reach speeds of almost 50 miles per hour. While the 74-foot drop and high-banked turns will excite any coaster enthusiast, the low height requirement of 46 inches makes it the perfect “big kid” coaster for many younger thrill seekers.

There is something for everyone to enjoy at the park with a total of eight thrilling coasters, dazzling entertainment, including two new shows, world-class dining with Food & Wine Festival featuring tastes around the world beginning May 26, and an exciting lineup of KIDsiderate and summer concerts.

Have a child who loves to get up and groove? The high-energy live show “Elmo Rocks!” returns to the Globe Theatre, and youngsters can meet their favorite furry friends, including Cookie Monster, Elmo, and Abby Cadabby at Sesame Street® Forest of Fun™. And mark your calendars for the KIDsiderate® Concert Series this May with musical performances by Choo Choo Soul with Genevieve, the KIDZ BOP Kids, and Teen Stars Live. These acts promise to get you up and moving and are included with your park admission. Check dates for each act online at buschgardens.com/va.
